MORPHÓ was entrusted with the complete redesign of the Santorini Crystal Blue Boutique Hotel—a distinctive destination on the island of Santorini where a privileged seaside location meets the timeless elegance of Cycladic architecture.
The hotel is located in Kamari, a coastal village on the eastern side of the island with a unique geographic and historical identity. Built at the foot of Mesa Vouno, Kamari lies just 9 kilometers from Fira. In ancient times, it served as the port of Ancient Thera and was known as Oia. Remarkably, remnants of ancient Oia remain visible beneath the sea surface, imbuing the area with a unique cultural significance.
Our interventions in the project included:
- Full renovation and spatial redesign
- Interior design of all rooms and communal areas
- Exterior design aimed at harmonizing the hotel’s character with the natural landscape and the sea
The design concept focuses on creating a holistic hospitality experience, inspired by the name of the hotel itself. The feeling of the sea’s blue hues, crystalline water, and natural light is carried throughout the interiors, through carefully selected materials, lighting, and color tones that evoke an atmospheric and welcoming environment.
The material palette—traditionally found on the island—such as volcanic stone, whitewashed surfaces, and natural textiles, has been integrated into the design in a way that reflects both authenticity and luxury. The result is a space filled with soft tones and playful lighting, offering a contemporary interpretation of Santorini’s Cycladic identity.
Santorini Crystal Blue Boutique Hotel offers a truly unique stay—where the beauty of the Aegean meets the refined simplicity of Cycladic tradition, providing guests with an environment of elevated aesthetics, relaxation, and inspiration.
