The project concerns the development of a three-star (3*) hotel on the island of Serifos.
Initially, the investor entrusted MORPHÓ with the preparation and submission of the investment plan to the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). In early 2024, our company fully undertook the construction contract for the hotel’s development.
As part of the application process for inclusion in the RRF, an Implementation Design Study was carried out. Its purpose was to enable the investor to define the total project cost with precision from the outset, adjust it based on available capital, and—through collaboration with specialized consultants—allocate resources effectively to achieve the desired outcome within the expected timeframe.
Upon completion of the Implementation Design and Interior Design studies, the overall construction cost was reassessed and refined based on more accurate qualitative and quantitative data.
The studies conducted by MORPHÓ were based on the approved architectural permit drawings. Before initiating the Interior Design phase, the MORPHÓ design team—comprised of architects and interior designers—visited Serifos to conduct on-site research and develop the conceptual identity of the project.
The design concept draws inspiration from the island’s modern industrial history, particularly the growth of mining activity in the late 19th century. Serifos’ mining operations were concentrated in the island’s southwestern region, primarily around the sheltered bays of Koutalas and Megalo Livadi. The geological character of the area—marked by skarn zones and rich deposits of iron and copper—formed the foundation of the hotel’s architectural and design identity.
The color palette, materials, and equipment selected for the project reflect the natural oxidization of these metals. This narrative of chemical transformation informs both the Interior Design and the proposed branding strategy, aligning the hotel’s aesthetic with the landscape and cultural heritage of Serifos.
